Cars in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Police mentioned they were alerted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say preliminary tests show the substance was likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they added.

Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.

A senior representative commented the attack rendered him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
