'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the dramatic dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles after the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful effort from distance, and his teammate immediately slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an extraordinary turnaround given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win secured a upcoming game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for having a go from that far out," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right defensive wing after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who complimented the way the underdogs approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they always find their target and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in his new home. At the London club he joined forces once more with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into men's football. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including home and away encounters against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who used to see his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I thought I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would blend in with fans on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
